At Mahatma Gandhi School, the meaning of service goes beyond the classroom. While our mission begins with education, it extends into the homes and hearts of the communities we serve.During the Covid-19 pandemic, we witnessed firsthand how hunger can strip away dignity and hope. Our school responded immediately, reaching thousands of struggling families, delivering essential ration kits so no child, widow, or elder in our extended community would go to bed hungry.
Even after the pandemic, the need did not vanish. Today, we continue this work as part of our everyday commitment:
Senior widows who live alone, with no steady source of income.
Citizens whose physical limitations make earning a livelihood difficult.
Families suddenly struck by illness, job loss, or crisis.
Each month, they receive ration kits containing staples like rice, wheat, pulses, cooking oil, and spices. The ingredients that form not just a meal, but a sense of security. We believe that nourishment is more than providing food. It is a way of saying: “You are seen, you are valued and you are not alone.”
This quiet, consistent act of care ensures that dignity is preserved, hope is restored, and communities remain strong, no matter the challenges they face.
